In many workplaces, worker committees and grievance redressal procedures exist only on paper and are not effectively implemented, rendering them useless to both workers and management.

Consequently, employees are left without a means to voice and address their grievances or contribute ideas to enhance their own working conditions.

WE is a 12 to 14 months program aimed at establishing a two-way channel of communication between the management and the workers to discuss and resolve day-to-day workplace issues. The objective is to pursue sustainable Workplace Standards through the process of engagement with workers and creating informed manpower. 

WE - Working Principle

Grievance Redressal – WE facilitates the creation of a “Champions of Change” team consisting of workers from diverse departments, with representatives nominated or chosen from each employee category. This team is trained and empowered to address grievances, disciplinary matters, and communication challenges in the workplace and to do a root cause analysis of issues. The team is empowered to resolve issues they can handle internally, and to escalate other issues to the HR/Personnel department. By enabling the team to take ownership of workplace issues, we promote a culture of collaboration and problem-solving among workers and management.

Engagement – A central aspect of this program is not auditing, but rather empowering both employers and workers to take responsibility for the working conditions within the factory. The success of the project hinges on creating a culture of equal participation, where every voice is valued and given due consideration, regardless of rank or position.

Capacity Building – An essential feature of this program is its focus on imparting training to the core team members regarding best practices pertaining to crucial areas like health and safety, working hours, remuneration and perks, as well as harassment and abuse. This training empowers them to effectively raise concerns and offer recommendations on these topics.
